Record a Zoom Meeting, Then Find, Trim, and Share It

You recorded the meeting. Now where is it? How to find Zoom recordings (local and cloud), trim the dead time, and share them safely.

Recording is the easy part. This guide covers what happens next: finding the file, cleaning it up, and sharing it without oversharing.

Find your recording

Local recordings:

  • Zoom converts the file when the meeting ends. Keep your computer on until it finishes.
  • Look in the Zoom folder inside Documents (or the location set in Settings > Recording).
  • In the Zoom desktop app, you can also find past recordings under Meetings > Recorded.

Cloud recordings:

  • Sign in at zoom.us and open Recordings.
  • Zoom emails the host when processing is done.

Trim the dead time

Meetings start with waiting for people and end with goodbyes.

  • Cloud recordings: Zoom's web portal offers a trim option for playback. Check the recording's options.
  • Local recordings: use any video editor. On Mac, QuickTime's Edit > Trim works. On Windows, the Photos or Clipchamp editor works.

Share it safely

  • Cloud: share a link, and set it to require a passcode or sign-in. Set an expiry if available.
  • Local: upload to a shared drive with restricted access rather than emailing a big file.
  • Think about who's in it. Only share with people who were in the meeting or need it.

Delete when you're done

Recordings pile up and can contain sensitive information. Delete old ones from the cloud and your computer when you no longer need them.

Where MobileStudio fits

If the meeting included a mobile app demo, a separate clean recording of the app usually looks better than the meeting recording. MobileStudio turns it into a polished demo on your phone. Get MobileStudio.
