Screen recording on a Samsung Galaxy takes four taps. Here's each step for a first-timer.
Step 1: Open the Quick panel
Swipe down from the top of the screen twice. The first swipe shows notifications, and the second shows all the quick buttons.
Step 2: Tap Screen recorder
Look for Screen recorder. If you don't see it:
- Swipe left to see more buttons.
- Or tap the three dots or pencil icon, choose Edit buttons, and drag Screen recorder into the panel.
Step 3: Choose sound and start
A box asks about sound:
- No sound: silent.
- Media sounds: the phone's own audio.
- Media sounds and mic: phone audio plus your voice.
Tap Start recording. After a 3-second countdown, it records.
Step 4: Stop
Tap the stop button on the small toolbar that appears while recording. (You can also stop from the notification.)
Find your recording
Open the Gallery app. Your screen recording is with your other videos.
If something goes wrong
- No Screen recorder anywhere: your model or software version may not support it. Check for software updates in Settings > Software update.
- No sound: choose Media sounds or Media sounds and mic next time.
- Black video: some apps block recording.
- Calls: Samsung says phone, VoIP, and video calls can't be recorded with the screen recorder.
For advanced settings, see Samsung screen record settings.
