The App Store app preview video size depends on the device: 886×1920 (portrait) or 1920×886 (landscape) for every iPhone with Face ID or Dynamic Island, 1080×1920 for 5.5-inch iPhones, 750×1334 for 4.7-inch iPhones, 1200×1600 for most iPads, 900×1200 for 9.7-inch iPads, and 1920×1080 for Mac and Apple TV. Apple asks for these accepted sizes, not your device's screen resolution. The MobileStudio App Store Preview Maker resizes a recording to the exact size.

Why doesn't my screen recording size work?
Screen recordings use the device's native resolution, such as 1179×2556 on a recent 6.1-inch iPhone. Apple wants the accepted preview size instead, so a raw recording is rejected for dimensions. Resizing to 886×1920 fixes it. The shapes are almost identical (both about 9:19.5), so the resize is clean.
Which size should I upload?
Upload the largest size you support, and App Store Connect uses it for smaller display classes when the interface is the same. For most iPhone apps, that's one 886×1920 preview. Add an iPad preview at 1200×1600 if your app runs on iPad. Apple notes that you only need the highest resolution if your interface is consistent across sizes.
How do I resize a recording to the right size?
- Open the App Store Preview Maker.
- Drop in your recording. It suggests the device size whose shape matches best.
- Check the Resolution row. If the shape differs, for example a 16:9 recording for an iPad preview, choose Fit (add bars) or Fill (crop edges).
- Export. The file is exactly the size you chose, at 30 fps, H.264.
The tool bakes rotation into the pixels, because App Store Connect checks the stored size.
What about portrait vs landscape?
iOS previews can be portrait or landscape; Mac and Apple TV are landscape only. Use the orientation your app is used in. A portrait app shown in landscape looks small and confusing. All previews for one device size should share an orientation, so the product page looks consistent.
Does the preview have to show the app on a device?
No. The accepted size is for the app's screen content alone, with no device frame around it. Apple's App Review Guideline 2.3.4 says previews may only use screen captures of the app, with optional narration and text overlays. Keep device frames and lifestyle shots for your website and social posts, where MobileStudio-style framed demos work well.
Are screenshot sizes the same as preview sizes?
No. Screenshots use full device resolutions, such as 1320×2868 or 1179×2556. See App Store screenshot sizes and Apple's screenshot specifications. For every other preview rule, read App Store preview video requirements.
