To upload an app preview, open your app in App Store Connect, go to the version you're preparing, scroll to Previews and Screenshots, pick the device size, and drag your video into the preview slots. You can add up to three per device size and language. Make sure the file meets Apple's spec first, such as 886×1920 for iPhone, or the upload fails; the free MobileStudio App Store Preview Maker prepares and checks the file.
The short answer
| Step | Where |
|---|---|
| 1. Open the app | App Store Connect > Apps > your app |
| 2. Open the version | The iOS app version you're preparing |
| 3. Find the media | Previews and Screenshots section |
| 4. Pick a size | The device size tab, or View All Sizes in Media Manager |
| 5. Upload | Drag the video into the preview area |
| 6. Poster frame | Choose the still shown before playback |
How do I upload an app preview step by step?
- Sign in to App Store Connect and open Apps, then your app.
- Select the app version in the sidebar (for example, 1.2 Prepare for Submission).
- Scroll to Previews and Screenshots.
- Choose the device size, such as the iPhone tab. Use View All Sizes in Media Manager to see every size.

- Click Save.
Apple's guide to managing App Store assets covers both this version page and the Asset Library, which lets you upload and get assets approved ahead of a specific version.
Why won't App Store Connect accept my preview?
Usually one of these:
| Error | Fix |
|---|---|
| Wrong dimensions | Resize to the accepted size, such as 886×1920 |
| Too long or too short | Trim to 15 to 30 seconds |
| Frame rate too high | Export at 30 fps |
| Wrong format | Use H.264 in .mov, .m4v, or .mp4 |
| Audio problems | Use stereo AAC; add a silent track if needed |
All of these are in Apple's preview specifications. The App Store Preview Maker fixes them in one export. For more, see why was my app preview rejected.
How do I set the poster frame?
After uploading, hover over the preview and choose the option to set the poster frame, then scrub to the frame you want and save. By default, Apple uses the frame at 5 seconds. The poster frame shows before the preview plays and during install, so choose a clear, representative screen. More in app preview poster frame.
How long does processing take?
Up to 24 hours. Until then, the preview shows as processing, and it won't appear on the product page. You can still submit the version while it processes.
Will my preview pass App Review?
It must follow Guideline 2.3.4: screen captures of the app itself, with optional narration and text overlays. Previews showing hands, devices, or other apps can be rejected even when the file is technically correct.
Can I upload previews for other languages?
Yes. Switch the language in the top right of the version page and upload previews for that localization. If a language has no preview, the App Store shows the one from your primary language.
Do I need a preview for every device size?
No. Upload the largest size you support; App Store Connect uses it for smaller display classes when the interface matches. See app preview video size for the full list.
