To send large video files, either make the file smaller or send a link instead of the file. The five free ways: compress it with the MobileStudio Video Compressor, share a cloud link (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox), use Mail Drop on Apple devices, AirDrop it, or use Quick Share between Android phones and Windows PCs.

Why can't I send my video files?

Every channel has a limit. Gmail caps attachments at 25 MB in total, and Discord's free plan allows 20 MB per file. Phone videos blow past those quickly: a minute of 1080p iPhone video is about 60 MB, and 4K is several times that.

How do I make large video files small enough to send?

Compress it to the limit:

  1. Open the MobileStudio Video Compressor on your phone or computer.
  2. Drop in the video.
  3. Pick 25 MB for email, 20 MB for Discord, or a custom size.
  4. Press Compress and send the MP4.

This works best for clips up to a couple of minutes. Long videos lose too much detail at small sizes, so use a link for those. The full method is in how to compress a video for email. On a Mac, QuickTime's Export As also saves a smaller 720p copy.

Upload it to cloud storage and share the link:

  1. Upload the video to Google Drive, iCloud Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox.
  2. Use the app's Share or Copy link option.
  3. Set the link so anyone with it can view.
  4. Paste the link into your email or chat.

The recipient gets the original quality. When a Gmail attachment goes over 25 MB, Gmail does this automatically with a Drive link.

How do I send a big video from iPhone?

  • Mail Drop: attach the video in the Mail app. When it's too large, Mail offers Mail Drop, which uploads it to iCloud and sends a download link.
  • AirDrop: to send to a nearby Apple device, tap Share > AirDrop. There's no size limit worth worrying about, and quality stays original.
  • Messages: iMessage sends large videos, but they may be compressed for the recipient.

How do I send a big video from Android or Windows?

Quick Share sends files directly between nearby Android phones, Chromebooks, and Windows PCs without a size cap that matters for video. Open the video, tap Share > Quick Share, and pick the device. For anyone far away, use a Google Drive link.
