Make a video GIF that loads fast

GIFs are ideal for showing a quick interaction, product flow, or motion detail without asking someone to press play. Keep the clip focused, choose a smaller width for documentation, and use a lower frame rate when the motion is subtle.

For README filesUse the 1 MB target, 320 px width, and a 3–5 second clip.
For Product HuntUse the 5 MB target and show one clear product moment.
For social postsUse the 10 MB target when detail and smooth motion matter most.

How it works

Turn a video into a GIF in three steps

Make a GIF that loads fast wherever you post it.

01

Add a video

Drop in a screen recording or clip. It stays on your device.

02

Pick the clip and size

Choose up to 10 seconds and a size limit: 1 MB for READMEs, 5 MB for Product Hunt, or 10 MB for social posts.

03

Download the GIF

The GIF is made to fit under your limit. If the first try is too big, it is rebuilt smaller automatically.

FAQ

Video to GIF questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. MobileStudio converts the video to a GIF inside your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

What GIF size should I choose?

Use 1 MB for README files and docs, 5 MB for Product Hunt, and 10 MB for high-detail social posts. Shorter clips make smaller, sharper GIFs.

Will the GIF really fit under the limit?

Yes. After encoding, the tool checks the file and, if it's over, rebuilds it at a smaller width or frame rate until it fits.

Why are GIFs so much bigger than videos?

GIF is a 1980s image format with no modern compression. A few seconds of GIF can be larger than a minute of MP4, so keep clips short.

Does it add a watermark?

No. The downloaded GIF has no watermark and no account is required.
