MobileStudio vs Screen Studio

Screen Studio is a great Mac app for recording your own screen. MobileStudio is built for a different job: turning a real mobile app recording into a polished demo, without a Mac in the loop.

Who each is for

Recording your own screen vs. recording a mobile app

Screen Studio is built around recording macOS itself — your desktop, a window, a browser tab. MobileStudio is built around one job: turning a mobile app screen recording into a store-ready or social-ready demo.

Where recording happens

No Mac, no cable, no mirroring step

To capture an iPhone, Screen Studio needs the phone tethered to a Mac over USB. MobileStudio records, edits, and exports on the device itself — there's no desktop app to open first.

Pricing

One-time vs. ongoing subscription

Screen Studio is $9–29 a month, billed for as long as you use it. MobileStudio is $99 once — Android beta access is currently free while it's validated.

Where Screen Studio is still ahead

Worth knowing before you switch

Screen Studio has had years to mature its desktop editing: automatic cursor-tracking zoom, transcript-based editing with filler-word removal, webcam overlays, and split-screen layouts. MobileStudio's zoom is manual (you place zoom points on the timeline), and it doesn't yet do transcription, webcam capture, or split-screen. If those specific features are what you need today, Screen Studio still does them and MobileStudio doesn't.

Try MobileStudio on your own phone.

Android beta access is currently free — no card, no Mac required.
